About Climate Protection NorthwestClimate Protection Northwest assists local governments in creating greenhouse gas emissions inventories. Climate Protection Northwest was founded by Nick Maxwell, PhD in 2023.
Nick is a data scientist and psychologist with 20 years experience in data science, local government, management consulting, and training. Nick has been certified in greenhouse gas inventories by the U.S. Green Building Council, the World Bank, and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. Nick was trained and certified in climate action planning by Gonzaga University. Nick is a Rewiring America local leader, a certified deep canvasser, and a Climate Reality leader. Nick has decades of experience making complicated things easy. He wrote a very humane textbook introducing statistical analysis, teaches a continuing-education course on Climate Protection, and writes a monthly column about stopping global warming where he fields questions from all levels of expertise. Nick earned his PhD in the Psychology of judgment and decision making, and taught Psychology at the University of Washington, Bothell, before starting his career as a data scientist. Nick is available to speak about global warming and how to stop it: over Zoom or in person in the Seattle-Bellevue-Bellingham area. Nick's presentations explain what is happening, how we know what is happening, and why leaving fossil fuels in the ground is essential to avoid worse consequences.
